On Friday, the highest ever daily COVID tally of 7466 was reported in the country; doubling time is 14.63 days

With the highest ever daily case count of 7466, India on Friday crossed 1,65,000 cases of Novel Coronavirus Disease – a high  that the government had projected, would be crossed only by May 31.

On April 26, in a meeting that the cabinet secretary had chaired with the chief secretaries and principal secretaries (health) the Centre had shared some projections along with doubling times and cases. The latest figures show India’s curve is still ahead of that graph. The current doubling time is 14.63 days. The total number of cases in the country right now is 165,799.

India, according to those projection was to hit 65000 cases on May 15, 1,65,122 on May 31, 03,95,727 on June 15, 11,22,839 on June 30, 31, 85,952 on July 15, 96,90,715 on July 31 and 2,24,96,513 on August 15.

In the last 24 hours, 175 deaths have taken place. The total COVID 19 toll in the country now stands at 4706. The number of cases under active medical supervision is 89,987. So far, a total of 71,105 people have been cured. In the last 24 hours, 3,414 patients were found cured. This takes the total recovery rate to 42.89%. 1,21,702 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the total to 3483838.
