Second chance for NEET-PG aspirants in snowed-in Kashmir

On the eve of exam, board announces separate test for J&K candidates at a later date

On the eve of the NEET-PG examination for postgraduate medical aspirants, the government of India has announced some relief for candidates in snowed in Srinagar. They would get another shot at the examination should they not be able to reach the examination centre in Jammu.

National Board of Examinations – an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, has said that is committed to give an opportunity to such affected candidates to appear in NEET-PG 2019.  It therefore took the matter up with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Medical Council of India and Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir. After discussions it has been decided, being a Force majeure situation, to hold a separate examination for these affected candidates.

NEET-PG 2019 is scheduled to be held on January 6, 2019. More than 1,48,000 candidates will appear for the examination in 165 cities

The date, time and venue will be announced in due course.

NBE has been entrusted with the task of conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Post Graduate (NEET-PG 2019) for admission to various medical Post-Graduate courses in the Country.

NEET-PG 2019 is scheduled to be held on January 6, 2019. More than 1,48,000 candidates will appear for the examination in 165 cities all across the country.  It will be conducted on a computer based platform in one single session.

NBE had several centres in Jammu & Kashmir. Due to inclement weather conditions in Jammu & Kashmir, some candidates from Srinagar Valley who had opted for testing centre in Jammu or other cities faced extreme difficulty in travelling. There is a complete blockage of air and road transport in the state.

NEET-PG being a high stake and national level examination, NBE is taking all measures to ensure that sanctity of the examination is preserved.
